Guys,
I see very few filters that do not have ADBVs any more. In fact, if your filter is used in more applications than just your Tacoma (and so may be mounted vertically or horizontally on various other motors) I can almost guarantee you it has one. If you have a filter handy, look at the smaller holes surrounding the large threaded mounting hole and if there is black or orange "rubber" on the internal side of the holes, you have an ADBV. Just to ensure you understand, the ADBV is there to keep oil from draining out of the filter on horizontal mounts, not to keep it from draining back into the filter. The ADBV opens to the inside to let oil into the filter but not out. (Hope this doesn't sound patronizing...it is not meant to be.)
