I had my 2002 Z28 at the dealer because it had an awefull crunching/poping noise start in the rear suspention. They looked at it 2 times and replaced everything everything from the shocks to the rear sway bar(why they thought a solid steel bar would cause a crunch noise is beyoud me!) Nothing fixed it so they told me it was normal and all F bodys do this!!!!
I was not happy so I lifted the car and "bench pressed" it to bounce it and I found that the rear sway bar bushings were making the loud noise. When I took them off I found they had been over torqued quiet a bit(should be 18 pounds and not 60) and were put on backwards!!! The tech who did this was a moron, he just keep throwing parts at it and when that failed he wrote it off as "normal"!!!! All I had to do was turn the bushing around and grease it a little and the car is now quiet again!!
That is all the dealer had to do but instead I got new shocks sway bar and several other new parts!!!!
I sure hope this was not the tech who rebuilt my LS1 last month!
Anyway I'm happy the car is quiet again and I think Chevy should be paynig me the $75.00 per hour to fix the problem they could not! I'm going to send a nice letter to Chevy on this one!
