Another unintended acceleration...

My friend's mom drives with both feet. I was only a kid back then under 10 years old, so I don't know if she still does it. so I can see how unintended acceleration could be a problem in that case.

It still works, blipping the throttle is not affected at all by having your foot on the brake - at least on my car.

What is more annoying are cars that slow the throttle response. I rented a maxima last week, even with it locked in second 'gear' (CVT) if you stomped on the gas it took a good half second for it to go WOT.

Our BMW in regular Drive is very slow to respond to throttle off the line, but if you put it in sport the throttle response is instant.

There are ways to remap the engine programming so that DBW works better.

"Cruise control in this car is handled by the ECU. There's no mechanical system to adjust.". just what i need ONE more person telling me how I want to do something.

I don't see how anyone would approve of this on a test drive.

For extra fun, dither the gas pedal rapidly like you have Parkinson's or something-- most DBW cars will just carry on smoothly.

A simple hand held tuner from Diablosport loads a tune on to my car's PCM that completely transforms the car.

Bad throttle response, overly intrusive traction control and stability control, goofy retarded timing, super slow smushy shifting, etc. are GONE!

Fantastic results, but not there for everyone

Let's qualify that.. all vehicles with DBW and automatic transmissions should have this.

Vehicles with DBW and manual transmissions probably don't need it, and unless it is only effective when the clutch pedal isn't pressed, would mess up your ability to do a rev-matched downshift.
