Replaced the pump to solve a no PS at idle problem, it fixed that but the new pump (A1 Cardone reman)is very noisy. I've never heard a louder one. I have flushed it, bled it per factory service manual, also bled it with vaccuum applied. No foam, works great, just loud. The odd thing is upon first start up it was very quiet, ran it a couple minutes to check for leaks, shut it off and cleaned up. The next time I started it and ever since it has been loud. Any ideas. 97 Suburban, 454, with hydro-boost power brakes. I also changed three hoses 2 pressure and one return.

try the a/c delco fluid and then jack the truck up and with the engine off and filler cap off turn the wheels from one side to the other 5 or more times then make sure the fluid is full and let the truck down start it and do the same thing...I had this problem on a surburban a while back.. it did quiet down after a few days of driving

I put a Cardone reman on my truck and it was so loud right out of the box that I couldn't stand it. I returned it and got another one and that solved the problem. Hope you don't have to go through that! That first pump was so loud everyone in the parking lot would be looking at you.

Ha I went through 4 cardone pumps on my car in 2 years. Not because of noise only. 3 leaked and one seized. I bought an a/c delco had no probs with it since.

Yup, it's a Cardone unit- junk.

edit: I know it's not an apples to apples comparison, but I've seen tons of Cardone junk. Everything from calipers, ecms/pcms to their power steering pumps. Most recently, we replaced the ecm in a 98 Ford p/u. Right out of the box, it wouldn't fire 2 injectors... What I'm getting at, is if you're having troubles with a re-man part install, and it's a Cardone part, DO NOT assume it's working properly.
