After selling my Grand Cherokee a few years back I had been missing getting out into the hills and exploring. Also where I go shooting is pretty rugged terrain. So I had been on the hunt for another Jeep. After months of looking at clapped-out junkers, this popped up. The seller was a middle-aged general contractor who was doing alright for himself. He had just bought a 392 Hemi Wrangler and was looking to get rid of his XJ. I had to do some small things to it but he had given me the parts with the sale.
It has 184k on the clock and it runs great. 3.5" Rubicon Express Lift, Advanced Adapters SYE kit. 4.0 and automatic with a 231 Transfer case. I have been driving it to work all week testing reliability and it hasn't had any issues.

Mile for mile, dollar for dollar I would take a XJ over a Landcruiser anyday. This is one of the best SUVs ever made IMO. I miss mine. Lost in a wreck.

Looks clean.

BEAUTIFUL JEEP! I hate I ever sold my 2000 Cherokee XJ Limited. It was loaded even had the select -trac transfer case that was 4Auto/4HI/4LO/2Hi, leather and all. It was black with black interior. Loved that truck. Yours reminded of it!

What year is it?
Sis' '99 was a Sport w black/cloth. It had the NP242 as well.
Stainless-steel screws, replacing the rusted OE screws in all 4 sill plates and the CHMSL, is a great touch.
If you remove the trannie drain plug, exactly 1 gallon of ATF drains.
Is your valve cover covered with oil ooze?

Nope clean with zero oil leaks. Previous owner had the engine resealed. This one has the 231 transfer case. You can run it 2wd.

Very nice XJ. I'd probably have to replace the late model JK Wrangler wheels and adapters at some point but not a priority. Great that it's dialed in with no drivetrain vibes from the lift. (y)
I happen to agree with you on the wheels. Not a fan myself. When I put new rubber on it I will go 15".
