Another Ford Recall

My 2018 Ford Edge with the 3.5 V6 has a recall for an emission issue. The letter doesn't exactly state what the problem is. Ford suggests that the car might not pass a state emission test. My NC county requires this test. They are going to reprogram the ecu to fix this.

Don't know if this recall applies to other Ford vehicles. Anybody know what this is about?

Every week or so I track the number of manufacturer buybacks per brand and manufacturer.

Ford and Lincoln combined are now responsible for the majority of the buybacks Nationwide. I no longer recommend any Ford products, new or used, except for the 2.5 liter version of the Ford Fusion.

The long-term quality index, which I co-developed, also shows Ford going straight down the tubes.

I hope you get it sorted out. I gave up on Ford years ago, too many issues and poor quality.

Drive it to the nearest Ford dealer for that recall. The good thing is they'll put it in a diagnostic test as well.

Pitiful FoMoCo. Do better you fools. Only two Ford products I would consider. F150 (GM and Ram have issues too) and the Mustang. Such a nice looking modern muscle car. Once again the choices are limited. Camaro or Charger/Challenger.

I bet Ford isn't around in 5 years. It has debt in excess of $130B.
Ford is, or was, a great American company; they put America on wheels. I don't know what the future holds. I am sad to hear these experiences. I wish them well.

Well in ten years we may all be back on horses that should green up the planet!

My fear is, if Ford continues to lose valuable customers like you, who fills the gap? China is a formidable opponent.
I hear ya, either they sort it out or sink and drown. Sad, but reality in the business world unfortunately.

This recall doesn't turn me away from Ford. If or when I determine that we need a new vehicle, Ford will be on the short list. Stellantis/Chrysler will not even be considered. I fell for Dodge trucks during the Daimler days. That was a huge mistake.

I wonder of part of the reason for increasing number of recalls is the growth/influence of NHTSA. They are probably worried about liability and issue recalls more frequently as apposed not fixing anything.

Fords has a systemic culture of poor quality control. They have been the recall leader for the at least the last 5 years. When one buys their product(s) it's what you can expect.
Quality control is a minor issue compared to the design and engineering decisions.
