Changed out another Kirkland brand roll, these are the new 380 sheet rolls that replaced the 425 sheets. Subjected to 100 psi of oil pressures in the cold winter mornings and am running Shell Rotella T1 SAE 40W.

When you use this filter. How much oil do you have to add to this engine over what the owners manual states to keep it on the dipstick full mark ?

Do you sample the oil? We would be curious to see how long you can run the oil with the bypass.
The Detroit makes a lot of iron and bearing material and struggles to run more than 10,000 miles on an oil change. I also run 100% used cooking oil, so have reduced oil changes to 7000 miles. Cummins and the Ford Triton V10 just get filter changes, and no oil changes. The Triton has 31,000 miles on the oil and the Cummins 40,000.:) Both the V10 and Cummins are no longer being used.:)

I normally use Great Value 1000 from Walmart. I set up the flat head Ford V8 canister filter to use Scott 1000 for the 79 Ford diesel tractor. Nothing I have has 100 PSI oil pressure. The relief valve on the tractor oil pump opens at 60 PSI. The last time I saw oil pressure do that to toilet paper all we had was soft 2ply. The Frantz paper was similar to Scott 1000 when it came out. The 1000 sheet came later.

I've used Scott 1000 in the past. but haven't tried Great Value 1000. Maybe I'll try the Walmart rolls in the future.:)

will have to take a trip south, our Walmarts don't have Great Value 1000, Rona is a lot closer. :)
The Great Value 1000 is a little smaller than the Scott 1000. The last Scott 1000 I used in the flat head Ford V8 canister filter slid right in. The Ford canister filter is 4 1/2 inches ID. I normally dont drain the oil in a gasoline engine. Its a matter of keeping the oil clean and adding enough new make up oil. There is a Peterbilt truck that is claimed to have had only 1 oil change in a million miles. Road king Magazine asked me for the truck owners phone number. Road king said the amount of new oil added at filter change is equal to a full oil change every 40.000 miles. At the time the Gulf Coast filter used two rolls of Bounty Big roll paper towels. Thats 10 quarts of new oil. Then you have the full flow filters and what the engine needs to replace leaks and what the engine consumes. Shell conventional 15W 40 Rotella.

Of course the best thing to use in a Frantz is the Frantz elements. They are like Scott 1000 that fits.

Thanks, didn't know that.:), rarely ever go to Walmart.:)
Gulf Coast Filters of Gulfport Mississippi started putting janitorial supply 2 ply in a sock before they discontinued the little filters. Toilet paper is worth a lot more when it is in a sock. One filter is similar to a Australian Jackmaster Classic at twice the price. The elements look similar to the Jackmaster element. One guy said the elements are toilet paper in a sock for about 40 bucks. Wont mention the name because I have only read the comments.

Kirkland is definately a soft 2 ply, don't think you can find a softer roll.... :(

The Motor Guard was a pain when all we had was soft paper. The Frantz wasnt so bad. We stuffed it in. The only 1 ply we had was loose wound. For awhile I got the best 2 ply from janitorial supply stores. When Frantz came out with their own paper it was nice. I believe the Scott 1000 came later Gulf Coast used a firm 2ply janitorial supply paper. Started putting every roll in a bag.

We should start a company putting firm tp into nylon socks, with the right marketing we can sell cases of rolls and make some $$$.
