Made in the USA, next time you're looking for drinking glasses, oven bakeware, mixing bowls, or glass storage containers, consider checking them out. I've always had good luck with their products, but results may vary.

I know that a lot of people here are interested in Made in USA products, if you're not familiar check them out. So far I've seen various products of theirs sold at Target and Pier One (oddly enough since Pier One is an imports store?) Look for the AH with the anchor on the bottom as the logo.

Yeah that caught me by surprise as well, I've become accustomed to big box store goods being cheap, cheaply made, and made offshore. I had a set of cheap offshore made drinking glasses for awhile, and they would break if you looked at them wrong. Picked up a set of AH glasses, much heavier and sturdy, no breakage so far.

We bought a few of their glass food storage containers this past year. Yesterday we noticed that the lip of one of the lids was split. Hopefully just an aberration.

Funny this came up, a coworker mentioned my funky clear coffee cup. I mentioned it is AH, made in the US. Why mess with "safe" plastics and off shore ceramic glazes?

I recently bought a commercial half sheet and cake pan made in the USA by Nordic Ware at of all places walmart.

I also favor US-made glass. I give slight preference to Libby over Anchor, based on one bad experience.

I had a set of six Anchor pint glasses that broke very easily. In one case, I stacked one glass into another (gently), and the bottom one broke in half. Three broke from being knocked on their side, and one broke in the dishwasher. The sixth one lasted forever, though.

All my Libby glass withstands a lot of abuse.

I have a lot of other Anchor glassware that has been very durable, so I think my one set of bad glasses was just from a bad batch.

Stu,

Most Libbey products are made in USA but certainly not all. They are the 2nd largest glassmaker. They own Crisa which is based in Monterrey, MX. They also own Crisal which is based in Marinha Grande, Portugal. They also have a plant in China. They do at least state the COO for their products.
