In Canada it would have been business as usual. (Legal here)

Although he exceeds the allowable amount of 30 grams (about 1 ounce) for Ontario, I doubt anyone would say anything...

Most oil change places would just look the other way when finding that under the hood, not call the cops on him. Seems like such a minor thing to rat someone out about. Not a serious crime.
They might even steal the stuff, or at least grab part of it !

Back in the 80s when I was a car stereo installer I put a new antenna on a Dodge Scamp and was running the coax cable under the dash up to the radio. A good sized bag of the green stuff fell out from under the glove box. It was about 2 ounces. I put it back where it came from.

I don't what's more dumb, putting a mason jar of weed under the hood or calling the police when you find it.

When I worked for the NJ State Police we found a bag of weed stuffed into the back seat of a cruiser while running wires for new radio. Guess a back seat guest disposed of their contraband.

Calling the cop is worse. They can come and mess up your shop or your car after they got out.

If you are running a business the #1 rule is not to mess with the customers' own business if it is not hurting anyone else.

X2.

I guess they kept it under the hood to avoid detection during a traffic stop, but why on Earth leave it there during service? And who calls the cops for that? Holy [censored].

I found an entire grow area while out surveying a wetland just of college as an engineer. I did take survey shots on it and added to the engineering drawing as an autocad layer.

I'm not sure what part of an oil change requires removing, opening and subsequently determining the contents of a mason jar under the hood.

It's also the Subway, TSC and local convenience store. It really is a great one-stop-shot.
