The case when oil filters "get more efficient with loading".

But it's been in full bypass for 50+K miles. At least the bypass valve was big enough to keep it from throwing a rod, but bet that engine is worn way more than it should be.

I took joke about Jeep Wranglers being total junks.
Like any vehicle, there can be some really good reliable long lasting Jeeps , some years hit or miss, some years to avoid at all costs.
I think the new 2025-26 Jeep Wranglers look fantastic and the 3.6 V6 with Auto transmission seems to have built a very good reputation. I wouldn't say as reliable as a Toyota 4Runner , but a lot better then past models. Too bad they cost a fortune, 2 Dr or 4 drs.

Resale values are the best. I think if I won the lottery this weekend, I'd go buy me a 2026 4 Dr Willys /auto/ freedom tops/V6.
And a ten year old Camry as my daily driver, lol.
Somebody in a small city about 4 hours away from me won $75 Million on the lotto about two weeks ago. They still have not come forward to claim their jackpot money.

Yes I do, that car was way out of warranty, came in running fine the filters from a diesel A3 with the ea288 engine, unknown mileage on the filter but car had about 90,000 miles.

It is shocking what some people do to their cars. And this isn’t the first I’ve seen, I posted pics a while back of another one.

I change my wife’s oil in her Chrysler Pacifica. It has the 3.6 Pentastar 6 cylinder engine. I change the oil every 3000 miles. The filters come out looking just fine. That sludged up filter in this thread has to be the original filter with at least 50,000 miles on it. Typical of drivers who have no idea why the wheels turn when they press the accelerator pedal…nor do they care.

My mistake - that filter quite clearly is the original filter, thus it has 20,000 miles of oil through it and 100,000 miles of unfiltered oil around it.

My youngest just turned 16 and got his driving permit. Part of that process in my house is he has to spend some time with me learning about our vehicles and more specially learning about maintaining them. My goal isn't to get them to be a shade tree mechanics, unless that's what they want to do, but it is to get across the point that they are going to spend a lot of money on these things and it's just silly, stupid, lazy, and very costly to not maintain them.
