Both claim extremely high levels of Zinc and Phosphorus to protect flat-tappet cam systems.

The 10W-30's at least, have very similar specs.

The Dominator oils even claim to be good for muscle cars and hot rods.

What's the point in having two separate products that do the EXACT same thing??? Seems like a waste of resources......

I beleive the Z-Rod is marketed as having strong anti-corrosion/anti-oxidant components in it's add pack, just what's needed for long storage periods and very occasional use.

The Dominator product, being a racing oil, does not have these components.

tudorart,

Are you sure Z-rod is Group III? Where did you hear this from? Can anyone else out there confirm this? I would be very surprised if this is true. Tudorart - I am not disputing your word, just that I am very surprised at this. My impression is that Z-rod is the same as Dominator, with the addition of the rust/corrosion inhibitors. I would be very surprised if it is Group III - can you confirm?

Looking further, the specifications between the 10W-30 Z-Rod and the 10W-30 Dominator are very similar - I do suspect the base oils of Z-Rod and Dominator are the same...Comments?

I compared the 2 oils as well and choose Z-Rod because its more street use oriented and that's what I'm using the car for.

I plan to try the 10w30 in my Si and see how it compares to previous oils.

I'd like more info on whether its group 3 or not...
