Amsoil zero turn lube

I think about 25 years ago they recommended Mobil 1 15w50 but then changed that recommendation to their own labeled hydro fluid. If I remember correctly the formulation changed with the Mobil 1 and Exmark wasn't comfortable with the new stuff. I've used the Amsoil fluid before and couldn't tell you the difference or notice the difference between any of the hydro fluids.
I am using the Amsoil tractor Hydraulic fluid in my Tuff Tork K66. It is not motor oil. It works good in my Husqavarna. I'm sure it is not motor oil.

No not relabeled motor oil.
It is better, lasts longer and shouldn't shear as much so better protection for longer, plus plenty of antioxidants that aren't in engine oils. I've had the same fill in my abused Gravely ZT for 4 years now.

You really should not use engine oil in a hydraulic / hydrostatic system. You want a fluid that is optimized for the application (which does not include combustion) like John Deere's HyGard (J20C, 10w30) or HyGard LV (J20D, 5w20).

Any of these would be excellent in a hydrostatic. The viscosity you require will depend on your ambient & operating temperatures.
I changed the factory Tuff Torq fluid at 50 hours per break in. Then to the Amsoil ATH at 90 hrs, because I had to pull the unit out. This was to beef up the front, and transmission mounting ears. Long story........ I used Amsoil ATH Tractor hydraulic/trans fluid. It feels a little better than the Tuff Torq fluid. Could be placebo....... Tuff Torq says you can use an engine oil. But conveniently says they want you to use the Tuff Torq fluid.
I feel warmer and fuzzier knowing I have very high quality fluid in the drivetrain. I just have to decide henceforth how long to run the normal intervals. The K66 has an internal filter. So that will need to be replaced at a future interval......... a long while......
