Using HFCS instead of sugar in soda drinks and myriad of foods and dressings in the late 80s was revolutionary. Until recently when was proven that causes fatty liver and myriad of health conditions. With allowing the use of HFCS instead of sugar FDA downgraded significantly the food quality.

So, "revolutionary" doesn't answer the question—upgraded or downgraded formula.

What are we getting at here?

Just clarifying what you think the base oils are for AMSOIL. You said there is no group III except for carrier oil.

I think the tests speak for themselves but many think there is some group III in there now.

This is patently false. People love to demonize certain foods or additives as being responsible for health conditions but that’s not the case. Overeating HFCS or sugar will both cause fatty liver disease and can contribute to diabetes. The problem is excess calories not HFCS. I know that’s not on topic but I have to call out falsehoods when I see them.

Which means the bulk could be GTL or some other Group III.

They already said it was better. Better TEOST, WPD, IIIH.

The lab he's talking about is likely SWRI in San Antonio, TX.

I would assume it has been, up until the supply disruption, GTL. Mobil has been going this route too, it (has been) a great balance of price and performance, and is probably much easier to blend with than straight PAO. I would assume that other bases, like some ester or AN also make an appearance.

I agree with you. I don’t think it means it’s a bad thing by any means.

What do you think of the 5W-30 not showing any PAO? Seems like its disclosure here means it’s considered hazardous so it should show up if the other grades have it, right?

Sure, is a lot of speculation over the SDS as to what is in this new formula (or any) the SDS sheet is for safety reasons, as mentioned before it is NOT a recipe for the oil. so, you are just double guessing this.^^^^^^^^
