the severe gear 75/90. what is so special about it compared to the regular diff fluid from amsoil?? and can i run the severe gear in my t-case that also calls for 75w90? i have an 02 tacoma with 104k miles. lots and lots of highway miles, in the summer i pull a 21ft bass boat about once a week. thanks guys

The Severe Gear is designed to be the better choice for high heat, high stress situations. The Long Life gear oil is really best for over the road trucks, hence the extended oil change interval only for those vehicles. The 80w-90 is stated as being a cheaper replacement for anyone who needs an 80w-90 specifically.

That's how I always managed to interpret it at least.

well which one would you use for your daily driver? i drive about 25-30k miles a year... i was thinking of the long life myself. change it around 40-50k miles.. i drive lots of highway and occasionally pull a bass boat in the summer.. this truck does not get stressed much at all. she gets pampered lol

I am using the Severe Gear now, so I would probably choose it again, except maybe move up to their 75w-110 (since the Xw-90 weight it used before was most likely of that high of a viscosity than the 90 weight chart is now).

For the price, and your intervals of choice, the Long Life will serve you well. You could probably go to 70,000+ miles, but use a used oil analysis to determine that.

I pamper my car too, and I do mostly city driving.
