amsoil severe gear lube.

I installed 75-90 wt. Amsoil severe gear lube in my 2005 Toyota truck rear axle. This was per application from the Amsoil applicate locator on there web site. This was last summer. Checked out this locator now they only recommend there 80w-90. I check out there specs, and they say it exceeds the minimum
specs. **** only exceeds the minimum. Its this
gear lube any good. I want to stay within
warranty requirements. Its they any other 80w-90
GL-5 lube you guys can recommend?

What is the problem exactly?

Severe Gear is world class excellent gear lube. It meets the GL-5 requirement. Are you worried about the 75W vs. 80W? Don't worry it will work better this and next winter in NW PA.

Same thing happened with Amsoil's recommendation for my 2004 RAV4, Big. I think Amsoil is just sticking with viscosities called out by the OEMs.

The Severe Gear is outstanding stuff -- and from what I hear, outperforms all their other gear lubes.

I wouldn't worry about it. An 80W-90 might be useful for low-speed, high-torque rock crawling, but for normal use, the 75W-90 will work just fine. Better gas mileage, too.
