When using the lookup guide at the Amsoil site, it sometimes lists more than one option for ATF. How is that to be interpreted?

Is the top option the best?
Is any choice OK?
Are certain fluids better under diff circumstances?

For example, the guide shows the following for our 1980 Citation V6....

==============================================================
Automatic Transmission,THM125......AF6
Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATFQT)
Low Viscosity Synthetic ATF (ATLQT)
Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (ATD1G)
==============================================================

Thanks for any help :)

They will all work in your trans in the amsoil lineup. So Amsoil list all that will work in the product reccomendation list

Say what? You mean one of them isn't optimal over the other two?

If one is optimal, why not show just that one? Why show all three?

Any Amsoil reps around this morning?

Well, it's only got 54k on it and I'd like to keep it going as long as I can. How much longer? I dunno....but I'd still like to know which fluid to use :)

yes the top reccomendation is the optimal product as I stated in my first post, but all of the products listed will work in his application

same with oil reccomendations on their lookup. They will all work but of course the top listed will be the most expensive and optimal product

Or cost effective to use high end fluids.

Just put some SuperTech in it and be done. JMO.

Indeed top is typically the ideal recommendation, but the others are rated for the application. Does not mean the other two are bad and they may actually be ideal for you situation. In this case:

ATF - best for pure DEX III applications.
ATL - since it's a DEX VI equivalent, it will work in in a Dex III application. Might be best for a light highway car, light engine going for max MPG.
ATD - rated as a DEX III, pretty good for HD, hot applications.

OK, I guess that makes sense.....sort of. Thanks :)

Suppose you have 3 other applications that spec the ATL? Would you want to stock 2 fluids?? I run into this with Severe Gear all the time.

Gary makes a good point as well.

What I left out was that Amsoil will back all three of those fluids in that specified application. Gives the consumer some choices. If the consumer doesn't know which one might be best, consult Amsoil with details of usage in hand.

It will work, but I favor the slightly higher viscosity for this application.
