I just checked the listing for an Amsoil oil filter to fit my 2004 (new body style), F150 4.6 v8 and it lists two different filters - one Metric and one Standard. I checked on the valve cover and it has "REP: FL-820-S"

Does anyone know what type filter I need?

Thanks!

You need the EaO11

Note (4): The 2004 4.6L engine for this application was produced with two different oil filters depending on engine plant. Refer to the label on valve/cam cover for plant location.
If the label shows “REP”, use oil filter number FL-820-S. If the label shows “Ford Windsor” use oil filter number FL-400-S.

Visually, the FL-400-S is a medium diameter filter and the length is longer than the diameter(tall/skinny). This would require the EaO 34.

The FL-820-S is a larger diameter filter that is about as long as it is wide. This one would require the EaO 11. That's strange: I've never seen a 4.6 with anything but this size filter on it.

Using the Wix filter guide for quick reference (Amsoil always has issues) ..the only offering of the 2004 4.6 using anything other than the 51372/FL820S/EaO11 is an F150 and F150 Supercrew. That year (for whatever reason) either may have been used.

This is true for 2004-2008 F150 models. The only thing I can figure is that the buyer would specify it using the standard thread. I could see this being the case if you were a government or fleet purchaser and the use of a 3/4-16 thread filter would lower your spare parts list.
