I make my living off 6000 watt generators and 5.5 hp gas powered air compressors. In my 20 years experience using these machines to feed myself and family I've concluded that in the summer rotella conventional 15w40 changed every 100 hours(changed due to fuel dilution, not that the oil was depleted) will lead to a motor that will last indefinitely.
I've got air compressors with over 10000 hours on the engines, the pumps don't last that long, and the only maintenance I've done is regular oil changes, and change the plugs.
I've got a fankenbrew I put in the fuel of every engine I own that seems to lead to 0 maintenance fuel systems.
Due to the oil being unfiltered in my equipment 100 hours is as long as I will let the machines run before changing. If your machine doesn't filter the oil I suggest re-thinking yearly changes.
It does have a spin on oil filter. Thanks, good to know the rotella 15-40 works well as it is less expensive.
