In regards to MANN filters.... in the (VW)TDI forums these filters are very strongly talked about in a positive light. Personally speaking they seem "a solid good" in my humble perception/use.

there's my nickles worth of free advice/info.....

fair enough? :>)

FWIW I did a google search for by-pass oil filter for our '03 toyota sienna minivan, this thread popped up on the first page. go figure eh? SO - I've wandered over to amsoil's site and figured out I don't have a clue which adapter will be needed....

New to the board! I have been using an EaO filter from Amsoil with their 35,000 mile oil on my high mileage 2005 Scion. I was changing the oil and filter every 12 months or 25,000 miles with excellent results and no problems.
Now that the EaO filters are unavailable I need a replacement. I would like to the highest mileage filter available. I am leaning to the PureOne and plan to change every 15,000 miles if I can not find a longer lasting filter.
I use a physically longer filter than the stock mini.
Any suggestions on what people think are the longest lasting filters - regardless of price? Oh and don't flame me on my high mileage oil changes- my last vehicle I had 335,000 miles before I sold it - and I am on track to do the same. Thanks.

Well, that's a bummer. I had ordered a EA057 regardless of the warnings as I only do 10K OCIs. Guess I will run with Mann filters from now on.

I didn't see your actual annual mileage. Filter life is a function (mostly) of cold starts. The lower the number of cold starts (fuel enrichment), the longer the filter lasts. Then it comes down to how fine the filter is over that lifespan.

Your type of service (an assumption on my part) isn't why the EaO was pulled. It was pulled for the user that has 8X the cold starts in a years time (speculation on my part due to experience with used higher mile filters).

Pick a filter with a silicon ADBV ..and that's about it. You're operating (again, an assumption on my part) in the near zero wear zone a great deal. You may alter the remaining 10% of wear that's not occurring at startup (from Castrol's "90% of all wear occurs at startup!"

I didn't get what Scion you have but you take a 3/4-16 thread filter. I think that a few members manage with the bigger gasket'd filters like FL400S or bigger if room permits. I think in your situation 6 months would work for the filter. 15k for a 15k/year car is surely doable ..even for some OEM recommendation.
