IF the EaO or other types of filtration currently under test( Larry is testing metal wire full flows and Auto-Rx), are as good as we theorize, indeed the paradigm of changing the filter every time we change out the lube may be old hat.
One of the potential issues with running a loaded filter is that as the oil flows past the contained debris it is being contaminated at some level and depleting the oil. Fe contaminants are particularily difficult and will put oxidation rates into hyperdrive. Depleting the add pack prematurely.
I just reinstalled a 4000 mile used K&N oil filter( no EaO made for this 2.4 I4) after carefully draining it as best I could on a oil change for a newer test bed engine. I'll share my oil analysis data as more is collected on the newer Mitsubishi Mivec using 5w20 here in 100 + F temps.
LC could be used as a correction fluid for reducing oxidation and Auto-RX may be able to be used to actually cleanse the filters themselves. If we could cut back on filter changes with a tougher media while keeping wear low, flow at spec, and filtering optimumly then more power to you. Saving money AND saving your machinery is what I am interested in for my customers.
Another thought is that the EaO media was originally designed for soot reduction in diesel engines, our theory that CJ4 thin vis formulas may actually be good for gas engines would be a neat twist using the Eao type media together for your passenger car.
Regardless, oil analysis can verify your choices suitability regardless of variables your engine may encounter.
427 my problem with cheapo FF's is that they are in bypass more than we realize so you do not get the filtering the fluid needs on a continual basis. Water makes it even worse.
