Amsoil Ea filters

I use an Amsoil Ea filter on my 2001 Jeep with a 4.0 engine as I think its the best filter one can buy with its nano fiber technology. Others have commented (on BITOG) that its a waste of money unless I plan to do extended oil changes. Right now I go 7500-8000 using PP oil. So am I wasting my money? We are talking maybe $5.00 to $8.00 more per filter which in the scheme of things (car maint. related) is not that much.

I don't think it's a wast, whether 1 mile or 20k i want the best filtration possible.

but that filter could easily do 2 oci for you.

It is hard to say if there will be a payback for the extra ### spent. If the engine for example lasts for 300,000 miles using the cheapest oil and filters what would be the advantage of spending more? $5 to $8 dollars may not be much but over the years the $$$ could be spent on something better. That being said . If the filters make you feel better use them , can't hurt and may help. They are nice filters

Compression,blow by,wear,performance,efficiency is all lost slowly over time with inferior filtration(seen it many times in heavy engine over hauls) and one can't tell by the dyno butt.

will the engine still run? yea, but if the above is important to you so should good filtration.

I'd say you would be wasting cash under 5K miles or so, but 8K probably not. How much time elapsed does 8K miles represent?

I agree with daman, I run good air/oil filters and run long drains. Is it really better than cheap filters? Cheap filter guys will say not, but I like my chances.......

I've had mine on for five years and 38K. I have blown it off about 4 times and it still looks pretty good. I don't do any especially dirty driving though. I was thinking of just running it out aways to like 60-70K? Or if I can't get the miles racking up. Then I might go a few more years.

I like the fact that is one of if not the finest filtering media available.

Depends.

We waste incredible amounts of money on fast food and fancy meals out when cheap ones or eating at home would work just fine.

So is an extra $ 10-20 more for oil/filters every 3-6 months a big deal?

Not really.

I would say somewhere between 4 to 6 months to rack up 8K miles.

If you drive 8k miles in 6 months you could use it for 2 OCI's.

IMHO....using this expensive filter for 7500 to 8000 OCI's is a waste of money......when a P1 would suffice and do the job....and you engine would last just as long.

If you were doing an OCI of say 15,000 miles....then the extra expense would be worth it.

IMO, 7,500-8,000 is that in-between OCI. You could choose something like a P1, NapaGold/Wix or any of the mid-grade filters instead of the very best(K&N/RP/BoschD+/M1/Amsoil).

...but really any MORE mileage than that and there is definitely, IMO, potential to gain in the event a particular interval(more time than mileage I suppose) were to go awry with more wear than typical from anything as simple as compromised air filtration, for example.

Anything at 10,000 or more and personally I would always use an oil filter from among the best out there. Approaching those kind of real extended drains is more for a choose at your own preference.

Well I have close to 1 years on my EA oil filter and ASL. 5 years plus on the EA air filter. I get my monies worth.
