Interesting observation; I wonder if the truck in the original video is chipped/tuned. That might explain the Ea running out of out of flow, though its still not good since its supposed to have 3 times flow....
Well, if you take a stock Cummins, say a 5.9L 4-valve, "600" (lbs-ft of torque) common rail it will generate about 30 psi boost max. That would give it a stock maximum airflow of approximately 850 cfm. The stock air filter is sized, with a safety margin, for that amount of air flow.
Using the various tuning tools available, including a new turbo but often only with a tune or a "boost fooler" (a device that modifies the boost input into the PCM), boost pressure can easily go up to 40, and with other mods 48 psi. That would require 1047 and 1200 cfm respectively. All numbers created on a calculator used to determine turbocharger sizes.
Factor in a dirty air filter and you can see why modifications were my first thought. Many of those tunes use a programmer, so it wouldn't be obvious.
As to 3x the flow... it could be they chose the worst flowing media on the market for comparison... a typical sales tactic.
