Amsoil didn't do any better

Good morning. I guess all these oils are good. Amsoil just has a higher TBN, not by much though. First three oils are Mobil 1 AFE, Toyota, and Pennzoil Platinum. I think Pennzoil is the best deal of all four. What do you guys say?

Inb4 someone says uoa's are not meant to compare between different oils.

It's 0w-16 you can't expect much out of it. Here's a tip, you can run up to 15w-40 in these engines. Now is that sensible/practical to do? not really but using something like mobil 1 ESP 0/5w-30 or a similar Euro 30 is plenty thick for these and it's what I'd use. I use thicker 40 grade instead of 20 in two engines right now and both are still under powertrain warranty.

But if you're keen on using 0w-16 for whatever reason as opposed to even 0w-20 which is essentially the same thing to me then buy supertech 0w-16 and use those savings to change it every 3-5k.

I don't think I will ever go that high, but a thin 0w20 is what I'm considering this summer.
 
Out of all the oil's you used, Amsoil has the best TBN Reading, you could have gone 10,000 miles on the Amsoil according to Blackstone. I would stick with Amsoil and change your oil every 6000 miles. If you are going to get rid of the car in a few years, then take the OCI up to 10K.

They're both very similar in viscosity so might as well run 0w-20 full time and there are many choices but super tech full syn 0w-20 is $18.64 iirc so change it frequently at 3/4k if you want as engines always appreciate fresh oil and it won't lighten the wallet.

I ended up with 8,400 miles on Amsoil, this test sample was from 6,200 miles.
 
I like the colors in this Picture, especially the Blue Color!
Where is the Oil Temperature Reading taken from?

This picture takes me back to the 1980's with the Alpine Car Stereo with a Cassette Deck, that color was Green!
ODBT2 scanner in live data mode. I have mounted it in the car, helps me know the car has warmed up in winters.
 
This 2.5L is a weird motor, it will shutt off even if oil temp is 60 degrees lol. So I try my best to keep it on. Fuel dilution is a big problem on these things. Luckily it hasn't been bad in my case. I don't blame folks who go with 30 grade oils on these things. Amsoil was affected by fuel here, it slipped to 6.57 although it started with 8.0 at least according to their datasheet. But it was still within grade so no worries.
 
Blackstone themselves say there is no statistical difference in wear numbers between oils. Even synthetic, blend, conventional. Where something like Amsoil shines is engine cleanliness, extended drains, etc.

Lets see if it does any cleaning on this old worn out van. My gut feeling says HPL won't find anything lol. This car has been super busy with oil changed every 5000 miles and 45 days, mostly Mobil 1(My favorite). I will keep you guys posted.

Do you recommend a filter like Fram Ensurance with HPL? Any risk of the filter getting clogged at 6000 miles that I intend to run HPL for? I don't believe it will get clogged but I am just trying to play it safe.

For 6k most any 10k filter will be fine. Personally I’m not an Endurance fan and it will soon be gone from all Walmarts. Tons of info here in the oil filter section. Don’t want to side track your UOA thread.

Keep it brief here. What is the problem with it?
So far Toyota filter has served me well, I get it in bulk for five bucks each.

First, Walmart is dropping them, so they will be less available. Second, the Fram haters are bashing the "wavy leaf spring" some filters have. Just when we thought it was safe to buy a xyz filter, the haters tell us otherwise.
