Amsoil claims Moly prematurely clogs filters

Amsoil's marketing strategy is a double edge sword. It works in that their sales have gone up, but with anyone being able to sell it, it's produced a ton of morons out their that have lied, distorted and taken over the internet. I've asked Amsoil HQ about Moly and they too have always referred to the solid Moly when questioning them on it via email. I think it's a scare tactic personally and one that might stem from Lubrizol, who hasn't been a fan of Moly if I'm not mistaken.

The higher the oxidation resistance (look at HT/HS Vis) the longer you can go without the oxidation factor building up in your engine.

For instance the Amsoil ATM something like a 5% loss in the NOACK Volatility Test compared to a conventional that is 10% plus. So while they will both thicken(due to oxidation) the conventional will do it at least 2 times as fast.

Two things with this, you have to make sure you compare the same Noak test. We've seen that Amsoil uses the less stringent Noak testing. It's still very low and good to their credit however.

The oxidation issue is Amsoil's biggest weakness, however, it doesn't seem to have an impact on wear which is strange. Not sure how clean Amsoil would leave an engine after long drains where excessive thickenning was taking place.
