sounds like a good tip which 5w30 have high hths?
sorry for barging in

Off the top of my head...

Red Line 5w30 is 3.7 cP.
Driven LS30 5w30 is 3.5 cP.

I know there's more, just can't think straight for some reason.

No...... I don't know what you are reading, but it's wrong. There are plenty of high HTHS oils.

i guess its true that every engine behaves differently regardless of the oil brand and specs, probably driving environment and habits plays a significant roll to i would assume.

Correct. It's usually a combination of variables at play. An oil blender that formulates for the lowest possible Noack is going to tell you that lower Noack means less oil consumption. It's just not that simple nor is it always the case.

If your engine is consuming a high priced oil, switch oils. It's just not worth it.

My Tacoma with the 4.0L with 75K doesn't consume with SS 0W30 10K oci. About to use SS 0W20 in the Honda 1.5LT. Factory fill was changed at 7500 miles per olm. Currently has Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20.

My 2002 Tahoe with 244k miles consumes the same 1 quart per 10k miles no matter if I use Driven LS30, Amsoil Signature, Valvoline MaxLife, or Mobil 1 Annual Protection. So I just use the one that showed up best on UOA which is Driven.

I stated 10 yrs of using SS in 5 completely different engines, not just one. 4 out of the five engines consumed SS. Driving habits are similar with short/cold trips being done often in winter which adds to the consumption I am sure.

Anyone else with an idea, explanation, wild theory even on why SS is consumed when dino and group 3 synthetic is not?

I use Amsoil 0w30 AZO oil in my 1993 Civic. During 10,000 miles, the oil use/burn off varies from 19 ozs to 40 ozs during that OCI.

The original unrebuilt engine (and auto trans) now has 538,000 miles on it.

I looked on Amsoil's website - both on gasoline and diesel webpages and don't see any label of AZO.

The product code for Signature Series 0w30 is AZO:
https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-prod...rcent-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=AZOQT-EA

Out of all the oils in their Signature Series line the 0w30 is the most popular seller I read in an Amsoil newstand article. I quite liked it when I used it in the Caravan before going back to 0w20. I have a sample headed for Dyson to see how it did.
