AMSOIL purchases additives and base oil chemistries from a variety of vendors. Those chemistries are the most advanced chemistries in the world. In many cases, they are chemistries of such high quality that other companies are unwilling to invest the money.

Redline, Mobil etc. all invest in the highest quality chemistries as well, not just Amsoil. Amsoil is definitely one of them though.

They all claim to be the best and use only the "highest quality" components.

ExxonMobil Chemical is owned by XOM and is American.

Amsoil does buy from different suppliers. There are others, but their major supplier of PAO base stock is Exxon/Mobil. They purchase some Group III base stocks from Shell, Petro Canada, and others. About 90% of their additive packages come from Lubrizoil.

I don't really see this "slapping"....maybe some cheeseball dealers try it. But in my years I have seen no official or tacit M1 hate.

Quite a difference between a basestock and a finished product...

How many basetock and additive suppliers do you deal with? I'm sure that there are a few producers that have some clear sensible advantage.

additives
at least 25-30 compainies proudcts maybe 80-100

Used oil analysis shows Amsoil to be a bit better, assuming it's a very accurate measurement of wear etc.

I was just pointing out the irony, I really dont care because I dont use either of them.

I've heard as well they buy some of their Grp III base stocks from Petro-Canada, which makes some excellent base oils. I go straight to the source and use P-C Synthetic.

When it comes right down to the nitty gritty of the top tier choices.....it's hype!

What do I mean?

Most of the top tier oil or boutique oils are only seperated by the blenders ability to mix the high quality base oil and additives for the end oil result/s. I highly dought that any of these top tiers will make much of a difference at the end of the components useful life.

So, whom ever hypes there product the best wins!
