Amsoil ASL 5w30, 9k miles, 05 Tahoe 5.3L

This was the first run of Amsoil ASL Signature 5w30, oil and filter were not replaced at the time of test. Previous fills have all been Valvoline Maxlife.

Check the whole air intake system, it looks like you have some serious air leak in the system. High silicon causes high wear metal.

My tahoe had 46ppm at similiar mileage. Both were running K&N filters at the time of the reports. I've since switched back to a paper Wix in my tahoe to see if the silicon numbers drop.

Weird thing is I've got a K&N on my 04 Duramax and it hardly shows any silicon.

Gm engines often show higher metal numbers, but doesn't shorten engine life.
