The hate tends to be because many of their products make claims without actually officially being labeled as meeting the specs and were sold through a multi level marketing scheme like Amway or Mary Kay.
Those two things made it instantly suspicious to many people.
@Pablo hates it. Only because its cost him thousands of hours of having to do work..... He probably had to beta test the app too.

Does Amsoil really have haters, or just people who can't justify the purchase of their products??
It may not be justifying a purchase for oneself in a vacuum but rather seeing to what extent others rationalize purchases for themselves and then encourage others to do the same so to justify their own purchase.
It's like, "I think this product is great because I bought it and I think you should buy it too so you can tell others the same thing and then I can feel better about my purchasing it in the first place."
It is a self-perpetuating positive feedback loop of self-justification.
People do this with pretty much all oils.
Yes, there were haters over the years. But lately none, really.
But, have you ever been to Superior Wisconsin? Superior makes Duluth look good, and that’s saying something. Amsoil’s facility looks like an oversized, underused, semi-forgotten industrial park. Empty parking lots. Nothing cutting edge. But I’m sure that they are blending up good stuff.
