It is my understanding that the "Severe Gear" formula is a completely new formula that incorporates some of the new base oils and additives that were used in their successful Wind Turbine Transmission oils.

These ingredients were listed for the Synthetic Gear Lube SAE 80W-90 which had separate sds. The three other longer term viscosities were consolidated on one safety data sheet with minimal information about the ingredients.
Hydrogenated base oil 25 - CAS number: 64742-54-7
Classification
Asp. Tox. 1 - H304
Polyisobutylene 25 - CAS number: 9003-27-4
Classification
Eye Irrit. 2B - H320
Amines, C12-14-tert-alkyl 0.5 - CAS number: 68955-53-3
(Z)-Octadec-9-enylamine 0.025 - CAS number: 112-90-3

I am not sure what point you are trying to make. An SDS is not a formula sheet that tells you the makeup of the current chemistry.

I appreciate that sds is not proprietary formulation which is never available. However-wondered if this sds is more similar to Amsoil FGL 75W90 chemistry or the Severe Gear chemistry, which the Amsoil AGL 80w90 product is now labeled under. The Severe Gear oil in reality and in advertising carries certain Credibility-and would like to know if the formulation of the oil is consistent with the label Severe Gear-similar to signature series where different viscosities of gasoline and diesel oils maintain similar formulations-which is why it is worth to pay a little extra for it.

Hope this clears up the confusion, I had the same question and reached out to Amsoil through their email: [email protected]

My email:

Hello,

I recently purchased Amsoil Severe Gear in 80W-90 weight in the EasyPour pack. I was wondering if this is indeed the same formulation, except the visocity/weight of course, as the Severe Gear 75W-90, 75W-110, and 75W-140? I reason why I ask is because the very same product on the website in the EasyPour pack is labeled Severe Gear, but when switching over to quart bottles the pricing is different along with a picture of a quart bottle that is simply labeled "Gear Lube" 80W-90. Am I actually getting Amsoil "Gear Lube" that is labeled Severe Gear on the EasyPour pack? Or is there a difference either way? I'm a bit confused.

Response to my email:

The 80w-90 was recently added to the Severe Gear line and they are in the process of updating the website. It is the same formulation as the other Severe Gear products.

Thank you so much for posting this response. Would imagine any label of severe gear on the bottle and formula would indicate the updated formula. Thank you again for posting response.
