Comments form Lab Fule Dilution elevated. Oxidation Elevated. Not enough information for accurate recommendation.
My comments. I changed filetrs and had the oil analyzed at 5500, 12,600, 18300, and 25,980. The wear numbers are consistent across all samples. Oxd and Nox did consistenetly creep up through the interval. This car uses about 1 qt per 2000 miles so along with the make up oil with the new filters and the make up oil due to loss, the car had pretty frequent additive replacements. Thus the high TBN retention. The Moly of 10 came from one qt. of Valvoline Max life added when I was out of town and had no Amsoil with me. That same qt was the baseline Maxlife I had analyzed by OAI. The elevated fuel contamination and Mg are somewhat disconcerting. I had been playing around with a couple of fuel injection cleaners ,RxP and Bob's Neutra, do these have Mg in them?
Does this report prove that Amsoil can go 25000 mile between changes? Not neccesarily. Obviously some of the original oil was still there and it did oxidize and gain viscosity. But with all of the make up oil I had to use, I can't say that the 25000 mile drain interval without a bypass filter is a reality on this car.
For the record, I always advise my Amsoil customers that oil analysis is an absolute must for any drain interval over 7500 miles.
I put a new batch of Amsoil with 1 qt of Bob's Schaffers blend in the car on this oil change. I am going to experinmet with using Schaffers as make up oil and watch the moly level and the wear numbers. I'll likely run 7500 miles on filters and change out at 15000. We'll see what happens.
