Amsoil 15w40

I am getting ready to run Amsoil 15w40 oil in my 2006 CTD, my questions are...

1. How much soot should motor oil have in it on say a 15k run?
1A. There is not to much for standard wix filter to handle?
1B. Changing WIX filter at 7500 mile should suffice since owners manual states 7500 for OCI. Right?
2. I am using Baldwin B50 bypass.
2A. Should I run same filter all of 15K to see if there is any failure of change in filtering media? ( I will run particle count)or change at 7500 mile full flow change?
3. Is anyone else running this in CTD? any issues or remarks?

1) that is very much dependent upon your driving profile, style, usage, fuel quality, etc. You can certainly determine generic loading rates by looking at others' used oil analysis.
1A) Soot loading in the oil is a function of its dispersant package. the oil, depending upon chemistry, ought to be able to handle 2-4%
1B) I'd say so. Likely the oil can go further, especially since;
2) great, this will do more for keeping soot down than anything. You ought to be able to extend OCIs based upon your use of a bypass. Of course, perform the correct used oil analysis.

Unless you are heavily over fueled, soot shouldn't be a problem. The B50 should help keep the wix in service throughout the 15k, but a filter change with makeup oil isn't a bad idea. My advice is to run a 10k interval and do a used oil analysis to see where you stand from there. Below is a link to my last used oil analysis with amsoil ame. I am actually going to stay on my 6 month / 7500 plan, I will change the full flow....and then leave the B50 on to see what it does the first time (with the price it is cheap enough to change B50 every time...I was just curious if longer run would help / hurt)

Shup - what mods are you running? First of all I'd say get a fleeguard stratapore from genos or wherever and start at 10k. I ran 40k on a run of oil in my '04 with an amsoil bypass filter, changing the full flow every 10 and the bypass every 20..although that was probably overkill. I drained the delvac 1 at 40k on the oil for ****s n giggles and the used oil analysis was fantastic. Especially with ULSD, these trucks can go a long time on the oil before soot ever becomes an issue - provided you're not running a tst at 9/9 all day

TBN will bite you before soot.

ULSD with 1 oz/gal Super Tech 2 cycle

or

4 oz to 10 gal MMO / 4 oz to 10 gal Diesel Kleen
