Ammunition

I left my tinfoil hat at home this morning, so please don't take this as if I were actually wearing it at this moment...

But...

Do others than I remember Obama's desire for a civilian police force equvalent to our military force? For what purpose would that be needed?

Where have we EVER heard a desire or feel a need to have that large of a civilian force? Chavez? Castro? Stalin? Pol Pot? Etc.

I mostly let things slide and pay no attention to the stupidity in Washington. I cast my vote in the appropriate place at the appropriate time.

But this civilian police force with OV-10s, MRAPS, many thousands of new MSRs(Modern Sporting Rifles), billions of rounds of ammo, arming every possible gov't agency, and generally setting up everything as an "emergency" so as to press even more tightly in on the freedoms we enjoy... THAT worries me.

Anyone who isn't filling up their inventories is not taking care of their business.

Well said Sir.

I stopped by Cabelas on a Tuesday morning a couple weeks ago and there were at least 40 guys waiting for the ammunition to be stocked. They were grabbing anything with a high resale value.

Around here, it looks like we are over the hump. I am now seeing premium 9mm back on the shelves and spotted some decent priced AR15 magazines as well.

Naturally, I am still unable to order an M11 or a Glock 19.

Picked up 3 boxes of 22 magnum at Wal Mart early Thursday morning. 22 LR is nowhere to be found in my area. I have heard if you get there at the right time you can find people selling it for double the price in the Wal Mart parking lot as they get there early buy their limit and resell it for a profit. Not sure if that is true but wouldn't be surprised. Bricks of 550 have been for sale on local internet classifieds and gun shows for up to $80.

That's just I want to be doing - selling ammo and flashing cash in the W-M parking lot...

Addendum #1 to the short rant... The only reason I can see a need for the civilian force is because of that pesky constitution and the inability for our miltary forces to be be used (legally) to put down civilian uprisings. Food line riots and confiscatory actions come to mind (confiscating (fill in the blank)).

Here our local Academy Sports + Outdoors often has .22 ammo including boxes of 333 to 550 rounds. Limit One box to a customer. 9MM Ammo of various type and price ranges. Other types too. Limit of One box of 9MM too several have 50 rounds - good prices. Limit of 3 boxes of different calibers.

Google their web page to get an idea of prices.

Any opinions on the Fiocchi that Palmetto is advertising?

And I see that their shipping is a flat $7 fee...

Never had any problems with Fiocchi in any caliber. I shoot a lot of their .357Mag.

It goes "BANG" in my .45 without issue...

I have shot a lot of their ammo - find that some of it is loaded on the hot side and works and functions well in my weapons.

I agree with this, but oddly their .357Mag and .223 is a bit tame. As I recall their .45ACP is a nice load. Have not tried the 9x18,

Have read other comments about it being a bit hot.

Some of the comments thought that maybe it was just the smaller calibers, that were on the hot side.

Meh... I put an order in for 200 rounds. Might as well try it for myself and see.

Yet another brand to add to the mix...

Finally had the good timing to meet the manager of the sporting goods department of my local Wal-Mart.

From what *he* is seeing, shipments are coming through on more days of the week.

Last shipment, he saw 9mm, .40, and .45. He did see some .223 last week. And he saw 12 boxes of 9mm in the last shipment. That should make some people very happy.

I ended up with the one box of .40 that they did get, a box of WWB 165 grain.

I'm sure that there is no truth to this, but I'm going to ask anyway - I was talking to a fellow the other day and the conversation drifted towards ammo and the current lack of supply. He told me that he heard from the NRA (always trustworthy, I know) that there was a new mandate coming that stated that gun powder was to have a one year shelf life. It sounds like a load garbage and the NRA could well have said this as they do resort to fear mongering to push their agenda, but I'd like to know, is there is even a shred of truth to it?

Not a shred of truth and your attack on the NRA is offensive and untrue as well. I am the NRA. I've been a member since 1980 and now a life member.

Google can be your friend for stuff like this...

This is VERY scary and VERY ominous for what's coming down the pike in the future.

Gov't against the people? Better save your ammo!
