America's top twenty donut chains

Dunkin only because there's plenty by me all the rest not around but duck that just opened less than a year ago. My local German bakery makes great donuts
Dunkin is to KK is like Kraft mayo is to Duke's... It's a Southern thing and If I have to explain you wouldn't understand...
i can honestly say I have never had anything "good" except coffee from Dunkin.

We don’t really have a lot of franchise donut places here in Canada. Tim Hortons would be number one by far, but it’s morphed into more of a place where people get their coffee and other food items and the donut portion of it has shrunk a lot (some locations don’t even offer all of the possible varieties of their donuts for example)

Krispy Kreme came up here in 2001, the very first one in all of Canada was opened up near where I used to live in Mississauga actually. I was one of the very first customers there, I went there 15 minutes after they opened up that location. They opened up a bunch more all over Canada but it wasn’t in big numbers and a lot of them ended up closing. That original Mississauga location is still going strong though. I visit it once a year and if I show up on a Saturday or Sunday there are usually a few dozen people in line to get donuts.

The best donuts up here are from the independent donut shops. They bake them fresh right on site, unlike Tim Hortons which stopped doing that a few years ago. They now bake them in other locations, then freeze them and bring them to the individual stores which will then thaw them out and sell them. Not good 🤦‍♂️

I'm not a Dunkin donuts guy . Coffee is good but I like 711 coffee better only because I like to make my own coffee my way. I don't go to Dunkin for a donut I like a bakery donut much better. By me there's still independent neighborhood bakery's still surviving and I like to keep them in business

The ONLY thing I find better than a KK Glazed is a Bojangles sweet potato pie, but you MUST ask for a side of the Bo-berry sweet Icing . Its Slap Yo MaMa good and I don't even like sweet potato!

You'd REALLY love the sweet potato cake then, from Brick Street Cafe in Greenville SC. And they make some of the best doughnuts around (and I'm a doughnut connoisseur by default 😁 ). Ain't nothin better.

Here in Louisville Thortons gas station has great donuts....I dont know who makes them for Thortons but they are large and great...I would take them over Krispy Kreme and Dunkins....

Of those listed, I've only had Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. I've tried Krispy Kreme a few times, including once at one of the earliest stores, in Florence, SC. My experiences have been very hit and miss, mostly miss, leaving me wondering what all the hype is about. But I recently had one that was good enough that I wanted a second.

At Dunkin, I've never had anything more than average donuts.

When I was into the "donut thing", I always found the local family bakeries had the best donuts. Far better than the big chains.
Absolutely!!! Want a good donut? Find a small local donut shop.

Dunkin Donuts and Mr. Donut were my favorites growing up in MD. We just got a few Dunkin Donuts in my part of Texas the last year or so and they are terrible. The selections are limited and most of the time they only have a small selection and they are terrible. Krispy Creme is always fresh though!

I’ve been to Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts and Duck Donuts. We have all 3 here. Never heard of the rest. Krispy Kreme is the best in my opinion. I only like regular glazed donuts with the exception of some of the ones at Duck Donuts like maple bacon is delicious. Krispy Kreme also has a good maple one too. The places that do the best donuts though are independent ones which unfortunately all the ones we had shut down. There’s one near my work town called Carol Lee Donuts and man it’s amazing.

I love Greenville SC and get up that way at times but I have a Ex-Wife in Greenville and I find it best to follow the unwritten rule that one needs a minimum of 5 counties between he and his Ex as that rule has served me well the last 20 years or so...

However, I have been known to go to great lengths for my Sweet Tooth!
I'll check it out next Greenville SC trip! Thanks!
