Anybody have experience with wheel refinishing? Looking to re-clear my wheels. Having a hard time deciding what gloss level my wheels are. (Image is of the nice wheel. 😅). Is this more of a satin? Semi-gloss?

I'm thinking, sand the original clear down flat, take most imperfections out, and spray over a 2000 grit surface. Hoping new clear will help blend in some of the defects. Not after total absolute perfection, just a major improvement. Other wheels have scratches in the clear, and some filiform corrosion here and there.

I'm planning to use a SprayMax 2k rattle can product.

Looks like the black might be a semi-gloss, and the silver is a satin? Having a hard time figuring out what finish this is. I'd prefer satin over gloss, can't seem to find a 2k semi-gloss product.

Thanks. 🤘

They still look pretty good!
Yeah, that wheel looks good! The other 3 are starting to get nasty. One I attempted to re-do, and used a high gloss clear. Gloss don't look right on these. But, that clear has been on for about 4 years, and hasn't shown any signs of failure. Gives me confidence in the 2k products.

I agree!

I think Clear will be full gloss. The different finishes may be more of how the metal is polished beneath the paint. OR, there could even be mild paint over some of the metal beneath the clear.

I had California chrome do my wheels on my 300cd. I was pleased. Calchrome clear is what I used.
