I can't decide if I should go higher or not, if this flag is just too big for this location or if I should choose a different location entirely?

Thanks, this is a slightly smaller flag, 2.5x4

I didn't want something huge, because the bigger it is the more wind load on the siding and mount! Of course you're supposed to remove for heavy wind, however that simply may not happen sometimes

Answered your own question. It's fine. It's the United that counts!

Looks good as long as it does not blow/hang up on the roof over hang.

It always bothered me when mounting flags with a side mount so on my last few homes I took the standard well made American made flag and pole with side mount that you find in stores like Home Depot and place the pole with a hose clamp so it doesn't slide down into a slightly larger metal pipe/ Some kind of conduit, forgot what I used but its aluminum or galvanized

Ok with that said I then drive a slightly larger pipe into the ground and slide the whole works into that. We only put it out on holiday weeks, so when done. The pipe in the ground stays and since it is ground level you do not see it. This set up prevents me from having to unwrap the flag from wrapping around the pipe.
Beware about possible underground utilities as this one in our new home was right near them. I should have called but felt I didnt go deep enough to hit any power lines... but, I should have called!

Looks great! Personally I’d go to the next larger size. It needs to be readily accessible so you can take it down at sundown, or lit at night.

a. Looks good to me too.
b. With no wind, will the lowest corner touch someone's head? I believe it shouldn't.
c. A vertical flagpole would require knowledgeable placement.
d. Vertical flagpoles, if not done with "Summer camp charm and authenticity" are rather expensive.
.....By Summer camp I'm referring to pull-pin, pivot down flagstaffs with no rigging.

Does anyone remember Flag etiquette brochures from the Boy Scouts?
