+1

I think McMaster has a minimum order of $35. At least with Amazon, you can add a book or a couple oil filters to get free shipping.

Agreed.

They are able to do things that other businesses can't (like escape local taxes) and that hurts competition. I think all states should collect state taxes on any Amazon purchase.

Amazon is the equivalent to what Wal Mart was in the 80s and 90s.

Only business has physical building in the state and has state license then they can collect tax for the state.

Amazon has nothing in CA, they are not obligated to collect state tax for CA treasury.

Amazon Industrial and Scientific is growing by leaps and bounds. Mcmaster-Carr is squarely in their sights and know that M-C is the top with Grainger being second. MSC lists most of their catalog on Amazon Industrial and Scientific also.

I interviewed for a job with that department a couple of years ago. I met with all of that dept's management and have a friend that worked for them. In the end that job wasn't for me.

I 100% disagree with you on that one. The state gets plenty of revenue from me
paying property taxes and gasoline tax. They need to leave my Amazon alone.

So you don't pay your use tax on Amazon purchases? That's tax evasion. It's illegal and hurtful to your fellow Californians.
