So I ordered a 5 gallon pail of Schaffers 5w20, expected delivery was Tuesday. Tracking shows last place was Mesquite, Texas on Tuesday with UPS. It gave me the option to either get a refund or a replacement. I clicked replacement, now its expected next Tuesday.

So, what if both show up? Do I get charged for the replacement or do I score a free 5 gallon jug and not say anything?

Something similar happen to someone else?

Looks like someone in the UPS system likes Scaffers oil.

10 gallons of oil for one Dodge Ram will last how long Gumby?

I had two 5-gal jugs of Shell oil returned before they even reached me due to damage.

I'm currently returning one of two RT6 1-gal jugs to Amazon because it leaked all inside the box.

Amazon sucks as packaging, which is truly evident when they put the two 1-gal RT6 jugs at the bottom of a package, beneath diapers, baby wipes and other stuff...

I would recommend against stealing. You're better than that.

That's what I'm thinking. Or it's a shipping label directly on the bucket and its getting overlooked (they think it's not a package but something for the trucks? Idk)

Either way, if both show up and they tell me to keep them that'd be amazing lol

5.71 oil changes. At 6 month intervals, 2.5 years with some for top off, or to use in the other vehicles.

The labels on those plastic buckets can fall off. Anything that's not a cardboard box has a pretty good risk of the label coming off, especially when the temps are high. When that happens it'll go to "overgoods." Then it gets auctioned off. Fun little system.

Just recently had it happen on a small package. I called after it had been delayed five days. They gave me a $10 credit, and said call back the next day if it did not come again. Did not come, and I requested a replacement which came in one day like the other was supposed to do. The other package never came. I don't think it ever got shipped.

I had a package get stuck in transit - tracking info never updated. It was stuck for a week or so, so I contacted Amazon and sent me another one overnight.

The original arrived a couple of days later and it was pretty well beat up. Amazon told me to keep both. It was a larger item (30lbs).

That's laughable. If employees are caught stealing packages, pretty sure they get fired. Risk that for a silly bottle of oil ? Not happening.

What happened ? It likely got lost. It happens. I mean, UPS handles 20 million packages a day.

It still happens, the chances are very low, but it's not zero. Who said everyone at UPS or FedEX is totally honest or wouldnt try it if they didn't think they're going to get caught.

UPS bassterds lost a $800 Ford C4 trans (with a transbrake and full manual valvebody inside) that made it all the way to Waco,.... but not 8 more miles to my door?

Then they tell me it got sent to SLC, Utah to get auctioned off. I never got a dime back.

I hate the brown truck with a blue passion.

No. That used to happen in the past. Not anymore. In the last 2 years, I have returned 3 such packages.

Sometimes, things get stuck on the conveyor belts, being automated, they wouldn't look unless someone complains and it reaches them. Happened with my packet with USPS, arrived a week later. The customer service informed me that it was stuck on the belt and it wouldn't drop where it was supposed to, would go back in the system. Not too sure how true this is.

I had an order for a windshield sun shade recently coming out of Columbia SC warehouse. On USPS tracking got to the point of waiting for pick up by a "partner". Waited a couple days before inquiring, partner was apparently unknown to all parties. After a week cancelled order and given money back. Being a Prime member they also gave me a credit on my account. This was first time had that experience. Ironic thing it was supposed to be one day shipping, which I never had before.

Since it was coming to you, someone else shipped it, yeah ? How come they didn't take care of it for you ?

Yeah, I see the same thing too.... In years past, and it obviously depended on the value of the item, they'd tell you to just keep it. For the time their rep spends processing a return, their employees spend receiving it and re-stocking it, the shipping charges, and so on, that costs more than the item is worth so it's not worth it to them. They would even sometimes let you keep an item that you ordered by mistake and wanted to exchange for the correct item. Again, not my experience anymore.

UPS is not nearly as bad as Amazon's own shipping service. Fed Ex is pretty bad too.

Weekends seem to turn the problem up to 11. Two weeks ago, I was expecting 11 separate shipments over the weekend. Only 3 of them made it. Only in one case did the item later turn up.

I have a feeling this is going to turn into "package carrier 'x' sucks - they lost my package" stories. Newsflash: They all lose packages. I have stories for UPS, Fedex, Fedex Ground, USPS, DHL, and so on but I still use all of them where appropriate.

At work, we rarely ever file a claim on the occasions that a package gets damaged (can't recall a lost package, only damaged). We choose not to add insurance even though it's pennies on the dollar because even if insured, it's not worth the time, paperwork, and so on to work through the claim.
