Amazon increases EV Fleet

So are still waiting for the link saying they were giving up on EV delivery vans.....
It's rumor now so if it's really happening Amazon isn't being public about it.
My guess is they will quietly shuffle the electric delivery vans to the density populated urban centers in mild climates where they kind of work and go diesel everywhere else.

I've seen them fairly regularly but yesterday, for the first time, saw two of them in our modest suburb of Houston. I was running an errand and it could not have been the same one left behind and then appearing from ahead of me, so two at least working here.

OK-now we know it's a rumor. Which BTW-makes no sense on everything we have seen.

Saw boatloads of EV Amazon trucks in rural east Dallas a week ago. The front end looks goofy.

I see the EV Amazon trucks in my travels in Newburgh, NY. The other day, they were parked at the airport gas station and transfering packages from the EV to a conventional truck. It seemed self evident as to why, so I didn't ask. In retrospect, I probably should have. Might have been nice to get some input from the driver.

Oh yes because a gigantic evil corporation would never say one thing and then do another.
It's evil in your opinion. We get it-you don't like Amazon. I really like Amazon-I order and 90% of the time it's here the next day-vitamins, filters, Christmas gifts-delivered in an electric van.

That's cute. Literally every step before the delivery was made possible with a diesel ship, sometimes a plane, train and truck.
Having it dropped off by an electric delivery van is just virtue signalling.

True, but remember product mass transport prior to "the last mile" is in huge batches, not stop-and-go single deliveries.
EVs excel in stop-and-go driving. The cost saving in fuel alone and maintenance time will pay big dividends in Amazon type use.

It could turnout to be a mistake, just like Hertz's mistake with their big EV push. The only difference is AMZN has a lot more money to burn. Time will tell.

The places where electric delivery vans might make a difference are in the most air polluted cities in the country say the top 6, which all happen to be in California.
If they did all their deliveries in say L.A. with electric then I could comfortably say it's more than virtue signaling.

True, but it could still end up being a mistake. Time will tell, let see how they hold up.
I haven’t heard or seen any of this but I spend little time on social media. I certainly haven’t seen it here.

You’ve got the catchphrase crap talk down to a science though, facts be ****ed with rumors and such.
