Amazon increases EV Fleet

I didn't realize they had so many in service already. I haven't seen any locally , but not expecting to for a bit. We might actually be outside of what one of those can do on a full charge.

Interested to see what happens with them long term. Have seen some videos on them and they seem quite well designed for a delivery van. Much better than something like a 90s aluminum Grumman P30 van

It is actually a good idea as they often delivers very short distance only (they likely use UPS / FedEx on unprofitable to internal routes), and they know exactly how far they can go and should go.
Stop/go and city delivers are the perfect use case for EVs. Short tripping and lots of opportunities for regenerative braking. The worst for a traditional ICE powertrain is the best for EV.

Seems like a mix of the Rivian delivery trucks for local stuff and the traditional gas powered vans for the longer trips would be a good setup.

My wife owns stock in Amazon - the amount of deliveries we receive.
Often time from one of their EV's.

One of the local tow truck drivers said he's been sent out frequently to pick up stranded Amazon EV vans. Maybe some of the drivers cut it too close on charge?
Most likely they are experimenting and doing feedback on these cases (temperature, AC usage, traffic, charge time, weight of cargo, etc). Amazon does a lot of limit pushing in their R&D and then use the data from failures to double down on it the next time around.

They're using them all over here too, more common to see a Rivian Amazon vehicle than a petrol powered van.

Just saw one yesterday. They have a rather unique look to the rear. Someone mentioned regenerative braking. That can be really helpful with hills. That just suck fuel like crazy for traditional ICE vehicles.

About 90% of my deliveries come on the Amazon EV vehicle.
I've seen some of them when I'm in the larger cities around me but yet to see one here in town, but the hub is 40 miles from my house so I'm guessing with the range on these they aren't looking to test with 70mph highway to deliver to me.

I heard they were giving up on the electric delivery vans.
Since I have an electric car that really doesn't surprise me.
They have taken delivery of thousands lately. If you could provide a link to what you heard.

Exactly the opposite. The design Rivian and Amazon worked together on is branching out to sell electric vans to more companies.

Fleet vehicle managers are always trying to get the cost of operation down where ever possible!
