I couldn't find it anymore. I bought M1 0w-20 EP High Mileage instead. At 125k miles, should I have bought a thicker rather than a thinner oil?

The M1 0W20 EP will probably be easier to find (WM) , is a more modern viscosity and built with better base sticks / ingredients than a 5W20 oil .

It would have to get down to probably around -25F before you would notice any difference between a 5w20 and a 0w20.

I’m not an oil expert and ask this with genuine curiosity. Is there any benefits to a 5w20 or anything detrimental? I got some cases of Hps and unfortunately they don’t make a 0 weight, so here I am. My cars are speced for 0w20 and I generally don’t sway from recommended weight. I know the typical bitog response is “no harm”.

As long as it’s not extremely cold your engine will not really know the difference between 5w20 and 0w20, so you can safely use 5w20 in any car that originally came with 0w20.

My Honda Civic calls for 0w20 and so far it’s all I have used but I have a jug of 5w20 VRP which I am going to use for my next oil change. Walmart didn’t have 0w20 VRP that day so I grabbed this instead.

Appreciate that! I just changed it March 1st, so hopefully no more sub zero temps. It is northern Ohio, so you can never be sure until I flip the AC on. I’ve got 3 cases of this Hps and 2 cars out of warranty to use it in. I’ve got plenty of pennzoil and Mobil 1 (0w20) to use up for the bitter cold months.
