I have a mp3 flash drive for my music in the car, but some songs, with the same artist, are being split into two groups, with another artist in the middle. I copied the artist name and used the same for all titles, but it still happens. What am I missing?

Check not only the title of the song's file, but also it's ID3 tags. You can check the tags by placing all the songs in a music player on your computer like windows media player. I'll bet that while the file names are correct, the ID3s are not.

Greenaccord2's suggestion is a good one. Also, depending on the player, sometimes one really has to play with the file names to get the order to work right.

For my car deck, if I want to use MP3s on a disc, to get it to work reliably, I just change the filename to reflect the track number (or name them alphabetically by letter), and it works. The order works right, and the song title and so forth in the ID3 tags are preserved.

I couldn't get ITunes to fix it, go figure, but I got Winamp installed on my recently reformatted WIndows machine(go figure), and found that several songs had and underscore instead of a space. Thanks for the suggestions.

Another one of my pet peeves - spaces in filenames!
