Hi,
My nerves are shot. I was driving along a windy back road in the Pocono Mountans in PA. Around one curve, I saw a guy in a corolla, close over in my (oncoming) lane. He corrected quickly, and for a split second I thought all was OK, however he over corrected, went too hard to his right, rode up onto the steep hill on his side of the road, flipped his car, and then it landed on its wheels.
I had slowed, but he must have been going very fast, as when it flipped, it was just about next to me. My car (I was in the BMW) was saved by probably all of 10 feet.
The airbags didnt go out, the lights were still on, and I think the engine was still running! Overall damage looked relatively minor, no glass even broke!
It was scary. The guy walked out and then went into the house to call a towtruck. I didnt have my cellphone with me when I stopped to see if he was ok... of all times to leave it at home.
My GF was about 20 seconds in front of me. Good thing she wasnt really close, or he might have hit her head on. She said he flew by in the opposite direction. She said she felt the force of his car coming at her, as they passed by one another. She estimated him to be doing ~75 when she was doing about 35.
Talk about right place at the right time, a split second slower or faster, and things could have been a LOT worse.
