Regarding all weather floor mats, I have a cheap cleaning solution that I use to clean my floor mats and now I need a protectant to spray on my floor mats to ensure they don't dry out over time.

I would imagine it would be something water based that I need, but I don't want to spray anything on my floor mats to give them a slick surface.

I've been doing some researching and I saw 3 products that may do the trick. 1) einszett Cockpit Premium, 2) Lexol Vinylex and 3) Meguiar's D17101 (diluted).

As far as what I clean my floor mats with, in a 28 ounce spray bottle, I use a 5:1 ratio of LA Totally Awesome Cleaner along with 2oz of LA Totally Awesome Carwash and I fill the remainder of the bottle up with distilled water. Along with this, I use a foaming spray nozzle on the bottle. This is very cheap mixture and it works very well cleaning my floor mats, but I need something to protect my floor mats after the fact.

I'm considering getting the Meguiar's D17101, diluting it and using it with a fine mist sprayer, but I figured I'd get some thoughts here first.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

Do not spray anything on floormats. You risk transferring the stuff to your shoes, and then to the gas/brake pedals. Plus, if your foot slips on the mat, you risk hitting the pedal unintentionally.

Floormats aren't really getting prolonged direct sunlight so I don't think you'll need to worry about them drying out.

its not what your asking about but might i suggest Weathertech laser cut floor liners. I have them in all three of my current autos and LOVE them, there vent shade products and bug deflectors are great to. I highly recomend.

I've had two driver's-side all-weather floor mats rub through due to wearing boots and hard-soled shoes. The rest of the mat and other mats looked as new.

A spray-on protectant isn't going to do anything about that.

And...they're floor mats!!! Wear them out, replace them, keep the carpets clean...

Must not have been apparent, but I was agreeing with you. I hosed mine off and cleaned them up so they didn't smell and that's it.

I am kicking myself in the rear. The day after I bought my OEM floor mats, I found out about Weathertech. This is the direction I'll be going in moving forward.

This is like putting plastic on a couch then doilies on the plastic.

If the dirt out there gets bad, change into some slippers before you drive, and put your street shoes in a bag.

Thank you!

I spray some Meguiar's protectant on the bottom/backside of my rubber floor mats. No problems with slippage, and it should still help preserve the rubber somewhat.

Weathertech has very expensive cleaner and non greasy protectant if your looking for something like that. I dont know about the other products you listed, I would just clean and then stop and no risk getting the pedals greasy.

Clean them with soap and water. I wouldn't put any petroleum product on them. One exception might be 303 but that's it.
