All - Season vs. All - Weather Tires ?

How are the CV4S tires for noise and ride comfort on your CX-5? I also have a CX-5 and my Yoko all seasons are coming up for replacement. Ive been looking at the CV4S Tires. Thanks
They’re definitely a tad noisier than a basic touring all season tire, especially when new. Mine are about 8/32 now and they’ve quieted down. Ride comfort is great. They feel like a softer compound, so handling is not like a z-rated performance tire! Probably a step down from a touring tire. Fuel economy seemed to take a tiny hit at first but has gotten better as they wear. It’s the closest tire I’ve found that bridges the gap between an all terrain and a touring tire.

I’ve driven them a lot in the CO mountains in deep snow and snow packed/icy roads and they’re just superb. Really no need for a snow tire with AWD. I know, I know! But they’re that good.

Had the GENERAL Altimax 365 AW ( V-rated ) installed and like them for the drive home . There's a $100 rebate that ends 10/31 .

TyreReviews youtube channel did an All-terrain tire comparison test, with 3PMSF rated AT, non-3PMSF AT, and a highway All-season tire.

And, the highway AS tire outperformed some 3PMSF AT in the snow and ice testing!

As said earlier, 3PMSF is just a minimum standard, 10% iirc better than the reference tire in snow acceleration. There is no braking or steering requirements in the US/Canada RMA standard for 3PMSF. And there is no levels of 3PMSF. Just meet the minimum, and you get to mark it on the tire. The only thing added was the EU adding the Ice grip symbol for that step above plan ole 3PMSF.

In the case of the TyreReviews AT test, it may purely be a marketing decision whether to designate a tire as 3PMSF or not.

I had Michelin CC2's on my 23 Lexus GX460 for the past year. They are a fantastic all around tire. They are quiet on the highway and grip in all conditions. I recently installed Bridgestone Blizzaks DM-V2's on 17" wheels to give me a little more sidewall in the winter months. The CC2's were very good in the snow, but no comparison to a Blizzak or other top tier winter tire.

I don’t mind giving up some dry performance in my Civic since I don’t push it hard anyway. So for me the Nokians have been a great success. Hopefully they will perform well in the next winter too, by then they’ll probably have another 20,000 miles on them.
Every time I hear that phrase….

The term all season has always baffled me. A tire is "all season" but just not quite good on snow. On the other hand if I dont drive on snow the only option is summer tires which tend to have low wear ratings with stiff sidewalls that prioritize steering feel/response over comfort.
