I've needed a printer for a few months. I saw a Sam's Club ad for Epson Eco Tank 2760 with a bonus black ink bottle. Price seems great at $219.87. What do you think? Use is for home. I don't need a printer often (less than 100 pages a month) have three kids (4th grade, 7th grade, and 9th grade) home with a Governor who .... I'll leave it there. Kids home often for school on hybrid "learning." The need is there and I see over 3k reviews on Amazon that are about 4.5 average approval. About $70 less than the Amazon price as well.

I have had an earlier Epson (ET-2550) for a few years now and am very pleased with it. The Eco Tank models have ink tanks that you refill from a bottle. No more expensive inkjet cartridges! At the rate that you say you print, the ink that comes with the printer will probably last you a couple of years. And refill bottles are inexpensive compared to cartridges.

The only problem that I have had with mine was of my own making. I print almost exclusively in B&W, so after a period of time the color jets became dried up and did not print well. It took a bunch of printhead cleaning cycles to get them working again. I now frequently print in the color mode, just to keep the printheads working well.

I know the dried color ink issue. I know how nasty it was with my HP Deskjet 2514 color cartridges. Dried up quickly and took many cleaning cycles to get to normal. I think we are going to go with this Epson.

The real cost of printers is not the machine itself, but the ink. Just read a review not long ago on Google news that compared a lot of printers. I think the Epson came out as the lowest cost per page. The only thing that did better was a Laser Printer. Prices have come down on those, but they don't work too well for color pictures. If you only print black and white, or no pictures, a black and white laser is best. For not much more money, a color laser is very good, just no glossy photos.

I hate inkjet printers. The ink is always drying out, clogging up, or running out. The only thing I ever have to worry about with with our mono-chrome HP Laserjet is if it's out of paper. The toner cartridge will last for about 6000 pages, so I hardly ever have to change it. Way less muss and fuss.

We have a Canon G3200 printer with ink tanks. We've used a surprising amount of ink. It's supposed to warn us when the tanks are getting low but that hasn't worked out. We've run out of ink a couple of times and it takes a while to get it going again.

The running costs are quite low.

I agree! Question is LaserJet price point? What laser jet for under $300?

I'd recommend Brother DCP-L2550dw - laser multi function printer that prints on both sides of the page if need be, scanner with feeder, wireless for devices that are in other rooms or laptops, toner (3rd party) is cheap. Running one for about 3 years now and got one for my daughter too, we are all very happy with the printers.
It should be around US$150

For ink printer epson is a good brand. However all ink printer cost a lot in ink so expect to pay for that. They basically give away the printer to make money back in ink.

I'd always have a B&W laser to go with any all in one ink printer, this is how you can save money.
