They do an alternate uniform every year, but this time is based off the F-16. One thing is it’s “FIGHTING FALCON” along one leg and “VIPER” on the other. I’ve heard some pilots are insistent that nobody in the USAF calls the F-16 anything but Viper. And it will feature nods to Colonel William "Psycho" Andrews.

The helmet is similar to that of a fighter pilot's, with the front bumper featuring a silhouette of the jet and replicating the pilot's visor cover. The word "Psycho" is also displayed as a tribute to Col. William Andrews, who used the word as call sign. He was shot down during Operation Desert Storm and was a prisoner of war before being released. Andrews died in 2015.
The Air Force football team will honor the Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon with the 2025 edition of the Air Power Legacy Series uniform. The Falcons will wear the special uniform for the Navy game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, at Noon ET at Navy Marine-Corps Memorial Stadium. The game will be nationally televised on CBS.

Could we also have in the month of October an F-14, and in November we go with F-15!

I don’t think the Air Force Academy would do that for the F-14.

I do remember last year Navy football had their Jolly Rogers uniforms. Obviously pirate and aircraft themed. But each player wore a different patch. At least one US Army patch and one US Secret Service patch. Strangely no Jolly Rogers patch although that was shown in the promotional photos.

F-14 is an airplane on a Naval Carrier, kind of forgot about that 1

Pretty Cool. Retired Navy, so love what the Navy has doen with their uniforms also.

Unfortunately, this Air Force team would lose to some high schools in California, Texas, Georgia and Florida. They look cool though.

Well, last year’s Navy football uniform during the Army-Navy game gave each player a choice of a patch to wear. The vast majority chose to represent the US Navy or USMC with their patches, like aviation squadrons, SEAL teams, ships, etc. A few sported different patches. One was for the Air Force Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force. Can’t find a photo of what was worn, but the images of their patches either say “PRIME RIBS” or “PRIME BEEF”.

I watched Air Force when they came to Berkeley in 2002. They were doing pretty well back then (think the went to a bowl game that season), although they got a lot of criticisms over excessive cut blocks, which are now severely restricted where some are subject to penalties. Their other issue was that this often (in the chaos of play) turned into clearly illegal chop blocks, where one blocker goes high and another cuts a defender below the knees. Their coach claimed that he was limited in the size of the players (especially linemen) he could recruit. Obviously linemen with NFL potential aren’t typically going to service academies.

AF won that game 23-21. But Cal absolutely destroyed them in 2004 in Colorado Springs, led by Aaron Rodgers.

Wasn't those patches indicative of the area they were going to specialize in? All the service academies do that I believe.
