The whole point of going to a quick lube joint is that you're feeling lazy and don't want to or can't do it yourself so why would you bother to open the hood afterwards? I seem to recall going to them in the past and people just drive off afterwards without opening the hood. Don't think I ever saw anyone open the hood after leaving one of those places. For that matter, they don't do that at dealerships either.

I have had maintenance done on my vehicles and as soon as i got home i would check under the hood for my peace of mind, always find a loose screw, wire not clipped or tools,

Yep, that's just common sense.

I've constantly had this problem, and not just at cheap chain stores either, but at an independent shop with a decent reputation that isn't cheap to use either.

The walmart auto care center I worked at while going to trade school was all retired mechanics that worked there for something to do in retirement. So there are good ones but i'm sure some shops are shoddy.

My local Walmart shop is the best local place for the basics like an oil change, tires, etc. I've seen the same people working there for many years, which indicates something.

Same ... small towns see that too ... we have a guy on the floor who was good Mechanic having his own shop for years ...

Why should they just demand $15 an hour attitude change not required.

Huh? Everyone can make a mistake and better pay would surely attract or retain more experienced employees.

Exactly and at least nothing was broken. This is why I check everything over after it's serviced. Plus I would have checked the oil level. So two things should have been checked out ideally. Takes less than a minute to do.

Exactly the UE rate is very low now so when you pay very low or min wage you are only going to get the absolute worst of the worst
employees...terrible to be accurate.

1) Buy oil+filter+drain plug washer online
2) locate a local mechanic with good reviews
3) drive by at the end of day or when slow with the supplies in your car
4) bring cash and ask nicely it's only gonna take $20-30 and many real shops take pride in doing a better job then Wa#mart or a Quick lube.
