Air compressor recommendations?

Always a interesting chart for one that will really use a compressor to it capacity. Most DIY will be using a 2 or possibly 3 tip. But a 2 tip worn out will approach a 3.
I blast at home with a worn 2 tip at 100psi at tip with a 7.5hp unit the pump will remain running continues at about 145psi for as long as i need could be up to a 1hr I'll be running out of sand.

My at work compressor would run a 8 tip easily without breaking a sweat.
I've worked with with air all my life and no one ever said I Have to much air but you sure hear the complaining when you run out.

Quincy QT series is made in USA. Quality units. You are not going to find a new one for $1500, though.
Sad but true. I do remember first eyeing them at the local Rural King for $1599 for the 5hp 60 gallon model. I was so tempted and really wanted one. The 80 gallon was $1999 at the time. This was early 2010s and even then those were the lowest Quincy prices going.

I could never justify buying my 80 gallon Champion new. The going rate for my 80 gallon 5hp Champion is $4500 now. For $200, I got the steal of a lifetime, notwithstanding its age and 3phase motor.

I have owned 2 Craftsman single stage 5 HP with an oil sump. They were made by devilbiss company. They branded the compressors to other companies.

I had a lot more water running those single stage. I bought the Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic compressor I have now from someone off Craigslist. I researched before I bought it and found that it was not Chinese junk. I think it is made by Belaire compressors. I never run out of air on it.

The only reason I think it was available was because other people think it was Chinese quality. The two stage is a game changer. Less water and a ton more air.

Well, it's the same amount of water coming into the compressor. The compressor is sucking in ambient air, single stage vs two stage has no effect on the amount of water that gets sucked in.

However, the two stage will have lower discharge temperatures. Which means the air that hits the tank will cool faster and condense more of the water in the tank.

So when you say "less water" with two stage, you're really just seeing that more of the water stays in the tank instead of making its way into your hose. But it's the same amount of water because it's sucking in the same air.
