Air compressor oil

I've only asked 4 or 5 times now what an HPL is.

Oh, never heard of them.

Was thinking HPL was some sort of compressor oil. 🤣

Boutique oils are a pain all around. Expensive and hard to source.

Like how do I even see the price of that HPL? There's no way to buy from their site that I'm seeing.

Found one place online for $22 a QUART (holy cow) and won't even ship to me.

I was in the same boat he should have said this when he wanted a compressor oil. In the opening thread he should have stated first and foremost it has to be cheap and not interested in anything else. I gave up when he wasn’t interested in anything else and I’m not going to waste my time posting about it.

I call in my order with various items it is one they carry in single Qts I ordered 2 Qts of the compressor oil at the time with a larger case order in two days it’s on my doorstep just like every order I get from them. Mary Jane and her crew is the best customer service to work with.

Because that wasn't my question. I just asked if 30wt non detergent was still correct to use.

Not going to mail order some fancy pants oilthat'll end up over $30 a quart after shipping.

Could buy a whole pail of Cetus HiPerSyn 100 for nit much more than what a gallon of that HPL would cost.

Oil I got was about $308 for a case

It is. There is no need to go all boutique on an old thumper.
 
check with your local Schaeffer's dealer, you might be able to some by the gallon jug or five gallon ,,use the #254 at perhaps iso68,,great stuff,or of course if small quantity's Amsoil has great compressor oil too.

I bought the Redline compressor oil when you did, and used the remainder of it when I changed the sight glass on my 60 gallon compressor a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe how much the price of compressor oil is now. Next time I go out East I'm going to have a look in Tractor Supply for some.
 
You can get Supertech SAE30 ND for $4.something a quart at Walmart. They have both HD-30 and 30 labelled bottles, the one that just says 30 on it would be the one for an air compressor. I also use it for those crappy foam air filters on my lawn mowers
 
I’ve found using a soil compressor oil to make the unit run cooler. I don’t believe I’m imagining it. I like it, and it’s one of the boutique oils I will buy.
 
I just used 10-30 in my Craftsman 2.5hp 2 cylinder compressor that I purchased way back in 1976. I have changed it 2 times cause it doesn't see a lot of use but my garage isn't heated so the 30 wt makes it hard to get started. It owes me nothing.
 
SA rated 30wt for combustion engine driven air compressors. Because it's sitting outside in the sun when running, next to a hot engine and it never stops until you turn it off or it runs out of gas.
SA rated 20wt for electric driven ones because they shouldn't get as hot.
SA rated because supposedly the detergent can build up when the oil buns off and leave deposits on the reed valves.
Walmarts usually have SA rated 30wt. Tractor supply was where I got my SA rated 20wt. If you can't find 20wt don't worry about it, use 30wt.
