Thinking of trying Kendall w/Ti. Just hit up a few more local stores locally, and like before checking other stores, no Kendall available on the shelves.
The local Firestone auto care uses Kendall oils. They have a coupon going good to the end of the month.
Since thinking of trying it on my 2010 Hyundai 2.5L (47k), there has been a TSB regards to aftermarket filters, so I have OEM filters and I'd have to insist using OEM.
I used Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 SN on current fill.
Haven't searched deep, but what I have read I'm not seeing anything negative regards to Kendall.
Any recent Kendall users that may have not posted about it yet?
I have enough stash of the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 for a few changes. I like'd to use the 5w30 for summer (triple digits come & go), and 5w-20 possibility for cool season temps.
Talk me in to it or out of it... coupon good till end of month. My other 2 vehicles aren't close for next OC.
 
I have used and my shop uses Kendall. The Full Synthetic Kendall is a VERY good oil. My shop sells the quarts of Full Synthetic for $6 each.
I would highly recommend it. I had a used oil analysis done after having 12,000 miles on other brands of oil and the titanium from Kendall still showed up in my analysis.
Pennzoil is great and would not waste it either.
As far as switching 5w20 & 5w30 that makes no difference. Most quality 20wt oils provide just as much protection as 30wt and newer cars that recommend 20wt should use what it calls for but to use up your stash isn't going to hurt.
If you want to use Kendall I would go with the Full Synthetic not the blends!!! Otherwise the pp will be better than the Kendall blend....at least my opinion.
 
Knedall is an excellent oil and I don't think anyone on BITOG would try to talk you out of using it in your application. Just grab an OEM filter for $5-$6 at you local Hyundai/Kia dealer or buy a pack of them online (E-Bay etc) then you will have some on hand for future use.
 
I used The Semi Synthetic Kendall in my old cherokee, My local autozone carries it. Have not seen the Full Synthetic around here.

I just printed the coupon (finally got the printer to work).
I'll bring along a OEM filter.
I'll have full synthetic for the fill. Drive is about 95%+ highway, almost 90 miles each work day.
I might as well give it a try and probably back to 5w-20 as hope we won't see to many triple digit days left, or stick out one more 5w30 fill.
This will be my 1st Kendall try ever. Guess might as well.

Other vehicles get Mobil Super 5000 (Mobil clean prior times) but since I put on the miles, I'll just stick to full synthetic but limited to 7.5k OCIs for warranty reasons for now. Will try 6-7k OCIs.

So will see what something with less moly and a dose of Ti does from the PP. No issues with the PP, except local shelves don't do well keeping stock, just want to try something different.

And what does titanium in the oil do for my engine? Thats really starting to sound a little snakish.

It's an anti wear Additive. It is supposed to bond with the metal to form a barrier. It's pretty effective if used correctly.

Ok so it does sound lke snake oil. Bonding with the metal? Come on. Sounds like Slick 50.
 
I would love to use this oil too, but can only get it from local DISTRIBUTOR for over $90/case of 3gal Full Synthetic. Too rich for my blood when any other Full Synthetic is $25+- for 5qts at Wally's.
 
Like I said at the beginning of the thread. I used Kendall with titanium for 5 oil changes then switched to another brand for 12,000 miles/2oci and titanium still showed 16ppm in my used oil analysis

If the titanium is snake oil then so is every oil with moly according to your logic. Come on
 
Tried Kendall GT-1 0w20 after looking through several UOA on here. Can't find it locally here also so I ordered 1 case and have since ordered another. The cost was $47.59 for 12 quarts + shipping from Petroleum Service Company. Kendall has an ad saying it's a 10K oil to boot.

From what I've read the Titanium is a good anti wear agent and there is less adverse affects than ZDDP on the catalytic converter. My car runs well on this oil. Hopefully I'll get a UAO and report back after warranty expires, only 16 K, and I'm keeping to less than 7.5 b/c of warranty.

Not sure which areas of the country do sell locally.

That is where I get my Kendall now as well. Just no one left around that sells it sadly. Although, even if they did I might still buy there as even with shipping their prices are very hard to beat. Despite Kendall always seeming to sell for less than other brands I have never beaten their price local. I do try and support the local shops when I can so if I could get it for say $5-$5.50a qt I would. But when it hits $6+ and I can get it for $4.64 a qt shipped( Full Synthetic 5W20 )I just have to go with PSC.

A good tip for ordering from PSC is to order 2 cases at one time. The best shipping deals, anytime I have checked, come with a 2 case purchase.

Example if I ordered some today( shipping varies by zip code - these are to my zip )...

1 case = $13.16
2 case = $20.01
3 case = $35.58
4 case = $53.81
5 case = $69.58
6 case = $82.74

So as you can see 2 cases is the shipping sweet spot for whatever reason. Gives the best p/qt final cost.

NOTE - people need to be quiet and not say anything to PSC abut this. If it is some kind of glitch let them find it. Keep your pie holes closed.

EDIT - worth noting that this place ships fast. From NJ to NH I get it within 2-3 days tops from the order date( if ordered on a business day and no weekend in between ).

That two case tier comes out to less than an extra dollar per quart shipping, not bad since their prices are pretty good.

Always wanted to try Kendall but the only place I've seen it is one Pilot Truck Stop and a few gas stations.

Titanium is no snake oil... unless Phillips, Castrol and Mobil are all using snake oil additives in their brews. Not thinking so...
 
wow what a surprise...
Called to setup a OC and inform them that there is a Hyundai TSB regards to aftermarket filters and I have NIB OEM filters that I want used.
They said they wont do a oil change with any customer supplied parts... service manager says no.
So to see if its just that service manager I called another Firestone and got the same answer.

So I guess I'll be doing my OC again with on hand OEM filter and use up some more of my stash of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30.

Wasn't expecting a no-go just because I wanted a OEM filter used.

Oh well... thanks again all for the replies. I'll use my PP and brew on this another time.
 
Firestone Service Centers won't use customer parts. Company policy as you discovered.
